Iron Man 3 Rumored to Follow ‘Extremis’ Comic Series

After the Avengers, everyone is probably wondering whats going to happen next? Whats Marvel’s next move?

Iron Man 3 is up next with a release date of May 3, 2013 and there are rumors of Aldrich Killian bringing in the ‘Extremis’ technology into the third Shellhead movie. While it seems that The Mandarin will be the villain (finally) for this next film, I don’t think bringing the ‘Extremis’ technology into the movies so early is a smart move.

For those of you who don’t know what ‘Extremis’ is, let me explain. A few years back, there was a comic series about Iron Man that really got me interested in the character. It was about this virus-like substance that rewrote the genetics of a human and gave the person injected with this product super-powers. The inventor, Aldrich Killian decides to sell it to terrorists and it gets into the hands of a man known as ‘Mallen’ who has been injected with ‘Extremis’. Iron Man realizes his armor isn’t strong or fast enough to stop Mallen, so he injects himself with the virus after some of his own programming. He is later reborn and able to work a prototype armor of his that is now connected to his brain, and Iron Man can move at the speed of thought. He kills Mallen and becomes a true force to be reckoned with.

And thats only part of the story.

Basically it seems they want to give him a ‘deus ex machina’ in order for him to fight The Mandarin. Personally, I think giving Iron Man that much power so soon is a bad idea and could create some problems for fans later on.

But, I have been wrong before.

What do you guys thing Iron Man 3 should be about and why? Leave a comment!

The DC Comics Movie-verse: The Road to the Justice League movie

Marvel’s The Avengers has broken weekend box office records almost immediately overnight, and superhero enthusiasts couldn’t be happier. As Marvel counts its money, DC keeps its fingers crossed on its golden boys Batman and Christopher Nolan. With ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ making a July release much like its 2008 predecessor, DC has made no plans to expand its movie universe (Or none that I’m aware of). Even with the new Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ coming in 2013, there haven’t been any reports of a potential crossover between Gotham’s Knight and Krypton’s Last Son. Chris Nolan is forever leaving the franchise after ‘Rises’ and who knows after ‘Man of Steel’ what he does next.

No doubt like what most studios have been doing, they’ll reboot the franchise and start over again. This is what I feel they should do.

Create a World’s Finest movie

For those of you who dont know what that means, let me explain. In the comics and in a short stinted cartoon movie the Caped Crusader and the Man of Steel joined forces as the two greatest heros of all time to defeat an imminent threat.

Now, you must be thinking “Why do this instead of a Justice League movie?”. The members of the Avengers (not counting Widow and Hawkeye) consisted of four characters, and five movies. The Justice League consists of seven original members, not counting any of the others that have switched in an out from time to time. How many movies could they possibly do before they finally make a Justice League movie? Too many for me, and too long of a wait.

Frankly its about time a Hollywood blockbuster of a film is released where Batman and Superman team up for once! If they choose to do the Marvel build-up approach, then it should go like this:

Leaving behind the Nolan movie mythos, they should bring back the fantasy that belongs in a Batman film and focus on Batman being a detective. Dealing with the likes of one of his iconic villains, like Two-Face or someone who rules over a mob gang. Batman is first and foremost a detective, not a muscle bound tough guy with cool gadgets. They should tie the story in with the likes of Clark Kent and the reporters of the Daily Planet doing a story on Wayne Enterprises. My suggestion would be a conspiracy of Luthorcorp stealing technology from Wayne Enterprises, or perhaps Wayne Ent. is involved in creating a superweapon. Leading into creating “The Metallo project” or something eluding to a supervillain that can pose a significant threat to the worlds of both heros.

The Superman film, should involve Batman and Bruce Wayne in some way trying to infiltrate Luthorcorp and find out what exactly they plan on doing. Superman of course intervenes. This could possibly be more of a post credits scene and the Superman film could involve some other villain of intimidating stature. Similar to an episode of the cartoon series.

Either way you get my point. Because then the next film would be about how Superman and Batman come together and stop the imminent threat thats been building up for both movies.

Plain and simple.

And to all of those Christopher Nolan fans, his Batman series is completely different from the comic books whatsoever. As a matter of fact, he wouldn’t do the movie unless he did it his way. Which is ridiculous, because now everybody thinks Batman is some muscle bound dumbass. Which isn’t true, and while the movies were very well done they weren’t what Batman is all about.

Either way, a World’s Finest movie is something DC should seriously consider if they plan on keeping up with Marvel. Superman and Batman have been in the wrong hands since the days of Richard Donner and… well… not even Tim Burton did the character of Batman justice. Only the animated series truly made the greatest Batman yet.

What do you guys out there think? Should DC keep doing what its doing? Should they try a Justice League movie? Or should they do what I suggest? Share your thoughts in the comments.

The Fantastic Four Remake and Reboot

With “The Avengers” coming out this Friday, it made me reminisce on Marvel’s first attempt at a superhero team movie adaptation. The world’s greatest superheros, the interdimentional adventurers, and Marvel’s First Family: The Fantastic Four.

The first two movies weren’t that impressive, and they made me fear what would become of an Avengers film. Happily, it was in the hands of Joss Wheadon. I wiped the sweat off my brow after that.

However, I’ve heard of talk that the reboot of the franchise would happen soon. This got me really excited, and I had a thought over what they would do.

As a filmmaker and a huge fan of Marvel movies, this would be my idea for the Fantastic Four reboot (Forgive me, but this is just pieced together as I go along) :

Like the second Hulk movie, the origin would be summed up in the credits. However, the film would take place just moments before the ship crash lands back in New York. And thus, after discovering their powers they try to fit in with the rest of the world while Reed tries to figure out what to do. Meanwhile, reports of missing subway workers has commuters scared to use the subway. Believing that prehistoric underground creatures have awakened. Enter: Mole Man, a very stout and angry person who has felt oppressed and shunned by the human race because of his size and limits as a mutant being. He soon discovers he has telepathic abilities with the underground monsters, and after saving the life of an infant, the beasts takes him in as their own. Meanwhile, the Fab Four are struggling to adjust to civilized life with their powers and Reed struggles to find a cure. His commitment to his work has left him ignoring his wife Sue. Ben, transformed by the accident as an 8ft tall rock monster has people scared of his appearance.

Ben is attacked by a swarm of these “Mole creatures” and he fends them off easily. Ben brings back the body of one of the creatures to Reed, who ultimately discovers that the creature is apart of a hive of creatures breeding beneath the city. Reed tries to get in contact with his leads to The Avengers, and S.H.E.I.L.D. to warn them of an imminent threat to New York City, but SHEILD shrugs off the warning without the proper proof before the Avengers can act. Reed decides to move his equipment and the others to the Baxter Building where he can better track the new seismic activity thats been recently plaguing Manhattan via the architecture of the building. Soon the Mole Man unleashes an all out attack against the city, without any defense strong enough to protect them.

Ben manages to convince Reed, Johnny, and Sue to use their powers to act against the creatures. Things start to go well until a giant mole creature attacks the heart of the city and captures Sue. Ben manages to fight the beast off and it retreats with Sue to the underground hive beneath the city. The Mole Man emerges and demands that the city surrender and appoints him ruler, authorities of the city refuse. Mole Man gives the city 6 hours to make its final decision. After resistance and arrest from city officials, Johnny, Reed, and Ben hatch a plan to save Sue and break out of the police station. They make it to the hive and battle their way to deep into the caverns, fighting off monsters until they reach the giant creature and the Mole Man.

The three of them battle until Ben beats the monster to submission and manages to take the whole cavern down. Sue uses her powers to protect them and carry them all out to safety. A month later, Reed, Ben, Sue, and Johnny are now living quietly at the Baxter Building and have decided to call themselves “The Fantastic Four”. The film ends with Nick Fury asking for the help of the Fab Four to “bring in the Hulk”.

Now that I have that out of my system, lets just see who would play who!

Ewan McGregor as Reed Richards

People seem to have this obsession with John Hamm being in a superhero film, and I came across a list that cast him as Reed. I didn’t really agree with the idea, and thought that Ewan would do a much better job. Why? The man has played the “wise wizard” type of characters for most of his career and it would be nice to see a top quality actor really portray the struggle of Reed trying to cure Ben, and being one of the smartest people in the Marvel Universe. Reed makes himself carry much of the burden with the FF, and frankly I think Ewan could tackle that best.

Naomi Watts as Sue Storm

Since Charlize Theron has been getting a lot of work in movies lately, I decided to go with my next choice. Naomi has done some great work both in fantasy (King Kong) and Horror (The Ring). Sue Storm has been portrayed as the heart of the FF and the strong motherly figure of the group. She’s no damsel in distress, and should be a role model for young girls still waiting on the Wonder Woman movie. Susan Storm is a heroine, and not a sex symbol so thus should be treated like a superhero. Just like the boys.

Alexander Ludwig as Johnny Storm

The hothead, younger brother, and comedic relief along with Ben; Johnny Storm is the idiot of the group. He’s the one more excited to be a superhero than anyone else, and frankly he is important for any Spiderman cameos the movie franchise may have. Alex wins the part in my book for his looks. He just looks like a good Johnny Storm.

Bruce Willis as Ben Grimm/The Thing

I put a slash for Ben and The Thing to be prepared for any possible human Ben Grimm scenes that may end up in sequels or flashbacks. Whatever, the point is Bruce Willis is perfect. He looks, acts, and could easily do the part from his New Jersey roots and his Brooklyn style accent. Bruce can be funny, dramatic, and hardcore at any time. It would do the fans proud, not to mention I would love to hear him yell “It’s clobberin’ time!”

David Tennant as The Mole Man

I don’t know why, but I saw this man playing the villain of this movie. Tennant is a very well rounded actor known best for creating very eccentric and weird characters, while he may not be short and stocky neither was Elija Wood for the role of Frodo in The Lord of the Rings. They pulled it off for that, they can do it for David Tennant.

Richard Roxburgh as Victor Von Doom

Does anybody remember this man? Most well known in my life for playing two great villains, James Moriarty or ‘M’ or The Fantom in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Dracula in Van Helsing. His performances as these two villains, especially Dracula, is exactly why he’s perfect for the part. I know I didn’t write him in the story I wrote, but he will be there in the first film and possibly the second as well. The idea is that Victor has hidden away in his homeland after his own accident scarred his face (see where I’m going LOEG fans?) and he is plotting revenge against Reed. Just like the comics. I can’t really describe his performances in writing, just go out there and rent yourselves those movies and see what I mean. THIS MAN MUST PLAY DOCTOR DOOM!

Hopefully someone will see this and do it, maybe even improve it (not that it was perfect as is) or maybe let me direct it. But you get the point.
