How to Edit on Anything – Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro

Yeah I know, its not REALLY anything, but this is just a basic idea of what people can get out of some of the more frequently used softwares that can be user friendly. But people are often intimidated by the interface, when in fact, its really easy to learn.

How to get more YouTube Subscribers easily: The method I used to go from 26 to 187 in less than a week!

SubXcess.com

Yes, its really that simple.

I think what most aspiring YouTubers miss with the website is that its among the social networking family like Twitter and Facebook. You interact with others who may potentially become your audience, and likewise with yourself towards them. Getting people involved and giving back for their loyalty really helps you build an audience. But finding that audience can be hard for some people who don’t necessarily put ‘rebecca black’ as one of the tags.

No, SubXcess is not a sponsor of mine. But I discovered it during a google search on how to get more subscribers.

It works the same way Twiends does, you follow people for what they call ‘seeds’ which is a basic points system that allows you to be seen by others. You offer seeds in return for following you, so they can be followed. Its a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” kinda method.

SubXcess works in three ways, getting points for subscribing to others, friending others, and watching other peoples videos. You get a certain amount of points per sub/friend/view and those points are used as credit to advertise to others for their own points.

Originally I had 26 subscribers, and my videos didn’t get much views to begin with (granted they still don’t, but I’m working on it) but I went from 26 to 187 in less than a week by doing the following.

- Subscribing to others, so they will sub back

- Friending others

- And paying a few small fees for points, so that the subs and friends will find me ($8 for 500 and $15 for 1,000 not bad of a price)

Now some people might say that this won’t make for a good start for an audience, and I say “Why not?”

The way I see it, they will only become a good audience through good content (which for me, will be coming every other Thursday in a month starting next week!) And I think Freddie Wong said it best, “A consistent audience calls for consistent content”. Just put together something you like to do, make it fun for you and everyone else. And keep people involved, people like to help out and showcase their own talents.

While this may not be a widely known method to gain subscribers, its a good way to have a head start when you plan on putting out good content.

How My Video Went Viral – How a video I made 3 years ago still gets views and is the most viewed video on my channel

A long time ago I discovered that with some DVD ripping software and a lot of patience, I could make some cool fan videos in Final Cut within minutes. I threw together a trailer for the videogame movie version of “Marvel Ultimate Alliance” and it gained over 300,000 views!

I didn’t realize how many people would search for this, and I had even received messages from YouTubers asking me when this movie was actually coming out. I guess I did a good job, but I ended up having to take it down because of  20th Century Fox worrying about some 17 year old kid making more money off their work than they would.

Later on my videos gained less attention, and I decided to leave the fan video market to do other things. Which was to get back into doing short films again, and hopefully gain a fan base. Still, copyright laws insued and my videos would be in trouble, since I liked to use some soundtracks from my favorite movies AND songs that I felt fit the video. A lot of them we’re removed, never to be searched for again.

So I decided to make one last video.

My best friend and I really love action movies, one of them being the first Punisher movie. We thought it was awesome, but the diner scene (In which some random guy comes in, sings a song, leaves, and later tries to kill the Punisher) was just pointless. And Mike (my best friend, and star of most of my videos) would make the same joke every time we brought it up.

If some random dude came up to me and told me that he was going to sing a song like that at my funeral, I would have said ‘Yeah? Well, suck it!’

Then he would pretend to shoot the guy.

So I thought, lets make it.

It was around Christmas time, and we just got up and shot the whole thing in one day. I cut it together and put it up on YouTube.

Today its my most viewed video at 41,614 views

And yet for some reason, I still slowly get more and more views. People still search for this crap, and I’ve even made plans to re-do the whole thing. Not a lot of the viewers like it and its not my best video to begin with.

Coming in a close second is this video

This is a trailer I cut together of a really short and unfinished zombie project I did with some college dormmates when we were bored. It came out really cool, and I wanted to include all of these time travel elements, but in the end everyone had no time for it left. It was never finished. So like everyone else, I put it on YouTube. It didn’t get a lot of attention as you would expect.

I started experimenting with keywords, tags, and titles, and I guess people search for stuff related to Zombieland and its rumored sequel. So I had labeled that video Zombieland 2 for a while, and that quickly gained views. But with some negative attention. And at 10,139 views its probably not something I want to have.

What does this teach you? Well, it teaches me that no matter how original your videos will be, nobody can search for them because they’re not attached to anything that already has an audience built up. Thus is why fan films, adaptations, IRL videos (in real life), and other pop culture related videos gain so much attention.

But it also teaches me that the title of the video is the most important thing you can ever add to your video. I simply titled my zombie video, “Zombieland 2″ and it gained thousands of views. Usually if a video is unrelated then it gets flagged for being unrelated to the title but my videos were an acception because they come close enough.

When it comes to just making videos for the web, it really proves that you don’t have to be professional, you just have to put it out there and hope for the best. I’ve been working really hard to promote some of my own original shorts since people don’t really search for them like they would “gamer commentaries”

My hope is that I can find an audience for my original content, since I have some secret projects coming to my channel soon.
