The Censorship of the Internet – Why Internet Neutrality is Important

I’m currently on a mailing list that updates me on the war the internet has against Congress, because I’m guessing that now they’re trying to censor the internet. I guess congress didn’t know about the two words that should apply to the internet:

Network Neutrality

It basically means that there should be no restrictions towards internet service providers. Which can result in censorship! Even of those simpletons out there that decide they want to do a lip synch to a Nikki Minaj song for YouTube. Congress is proposing a bill that will fine and put these specific people behind bars for this.

However, the way I look at it, the internet is a larger form of communication. Like when the telephone was invented, that was as much of a big deal as when the internet was launched. Which was for the same purpose, to communicate faster. The government doesn’t regulate what you can and cant talk about over your phone, so why should the internet apply?

Things like the Freedom of Information Legislation have advocated  for the internet. And continue to fight for it.

As a matter of fact, there are TONS of corporations, like Comcast, who slow down your internet if you actively do P2P sharing. Corporations are whining about all the power they don’t have from the internet, and we are barely holding on to the freedom it allows billions of people to communicate and make a living off of.

I’m not very well informed of any Bills that may be for or against Net Neutrality, but I am aware of the Freedom of information legistration.

Hopefully the government and big money corporations can leave the internet alone long enough for some serious change to happen within our governmental system.
